Local Area Energy Plan

As part of a national review of our energy infrastructure we are undertaking modelling and stakeholder consultation to create a Local Area Energy Plan for Erewash. This will combine with other councils plans in the East Midlands to inform a Regional Energy Strategy Plan.

These plans will include:

• A review of the condition of our housing stock - it’s age, energy performance certification (EPC), & current energy usage
• Assessment of measures required to reach at least EPC C for all premises (public, residential & commercial)
• Industry energy usage, forecasted demand, and measures to decarbonise/ electrify the local industries
• Energy demand and usage forecasting
• Assessment of the amount of renewable energy generation required for our area - including land and roof space available for this purpose
• EV and other infrastructure rollout requirements – personal, public and business use.
• Outlining priorities for our area
• Detailing a clear and measured plan of action for a renewable energy future + to reach net zero carbon by 2050.
