Across Erewash, many of our local areas are served by active parish councils. In July 2025, Erewash Borough Councillors recognised the need for Ilkeston and Long Eaton to have the same opportunity for local governance, and they voted to commence a community governance review. The aim of this review is to assess the desire among residents to establish town or parish councils in Ilkeston and Long Eaton.
To be able to make the right decision for Ilkeston, we are seeking resident views on your local identity i.e. where do you consider yourself to live. Your answer to this question will support your councillors in defining the next steps towards establishing town or parish councils.
Please submit your response to the consultation before Friday 9th January 2026.
For more information about the consultation, please contact Democratic Services on 0115 907 1154.
