Erewash Borough Council is proposing to use the powers under Section 59 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 to make a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in relation to dog control. The existing Order can be found by visiting www.erewash.gov.uk/pspo (opens in new window) under the ‘Current Orders’ section.
The existing Order covers:
* Dog fouling - in place across the borough of Erewash on 'public land'.
* Dogs on lead by direction - in place across the borough of Erewash.
* Dog exclusion in gated and fenced children’s play areas.
* Dogs on leads - in place in all cemeteries across the borough of Erewash.
The current Order has been in place since 2023 and expires at the beginning of December 2026. This public consultation will gather feedback on a proposal to impose a new Order for 3 years.
The council is proposing to keep the same conditions for the new PSPO. To view the wording of the draft Order, please visit www.erewash.gov.uk/pspo to find it under the ‘Under Consultation section’.
To take part in the consultation, please complete this survey before 31st July 2026.
